The Grand by SkyCity's 20th birthday gift to you with the ultimate foodie-inspired luxury staycation.

Few addresses have left a lasting impression on our city more than The Grand by SkyCity. Beyond its elegant hotel status, The Grand is a culinary landmark, continuously redefining diverse, multi-cultural cuisine and setting new standards for our hospitality industry.

Celebrating a milestone birthday this year, The Grand by SkyCity continues to be a hub for elevated dining experiences with its award-winning restaurants. Since opening its doors in 2005, the main restaurant in The Grand has undergone three transformations. The journey began with dine by Peter Gordon, followed by Gusto at the Grand led by renowned chef Sean Connolly and most recently, Metita by Michael Meredith. Heading into its second year, Metita continues to stand out in crowds with its ‘uniquely Auckland’ menu, creating Pacific cuisine for the modern palette. Aptly named after his mother, who inspired his love of food from a young age, Metita is a loveletter to both Michael’s upbringing and his Samoan heritage, taking the comforting food of the Pacific and reimagining it through the lens of a prestigious career in some of the world’s finest restaurants.

And in a similar evolution, Sid and Chand Sahrawat re-opened the doors to Cassia, an Auckland stalwart, at this new address. Cassia emerged from a marriage of Sid and Chand’s home cooking on Sundays, fusing Sid’s haute cuisine with Chand’s heritage recipes. Going on to critical acclaim, Cassia has remained New Zealand’s leading contemporary Indian restaurant with signature dishes like the Hawke’s Bay lamb chops, roasted carrots and lamb seekh, solidifying their place as city favourites.

To complete the trifecta, now it’s 12th year, MASU remains one of Auckland’s most inspiring Japanese dining destinations, with its modern interpretation on the traditional robata style of cooking over an open charcoal grill. MASU’s menu doesn’t offer a single disappointing dish, as to be expected by the inimitable Nic Watt––but our go-to every time we visit has got to be the sashimi platter and the Kagoshima wagyu; always a mouth-watering bite.

Two decades down and with many more to come, this combination of evolutions and stalwarts makes it feel like The Grand by SkyCity is only getting started. It is living proof that when you combine Auckland’s melting pot of cultures with some of the country’s most celebrated chefs, you start a movement well worth replicating.

And now, as part of its 20th anniversary, The Grand by SkyCity is inviting guests to experience its legacy in the most unforgettable way yet. Introducing Luxe Moments at The Grand—a celebration of culinary excellence and indulgent hospitality. This curated escape includes two nights in the opulent Grand Presidential Suite, a heli flight to Mudbrick on Waiheke Island for a leisurely lunch, and the freedom to choose a dining journey at one of the hotel’s aforementioned restaurants—Metita, MASU, or Cassia. The experience continues with elevated cocktails at Sky Bar and winds down in true Grand style with a restorative treatment at East Day Spa. It’s more than a getaway; it’s a taste of everything The Grand stands for—world-class cuisine, impeccable service, and moments that linger long after the last bite.
